Did you see Central Steel Service in Metal Architecture’s November issue? Metal Architecture shared the story behind rebuilding our office building with weathering steel.
After a fire destroyed our original office building, our goal was to utilize the weathering steel we distribute to reconstruct our office building to serve as a model of the various ways to use weathering in construction.
Birchfield, Penuel and Associates LLC designed our 8,000-square foot- office building to incorporate vertical and horizontal weathering steel panels. Next, we supplied Sloan Supply Metal Roofing with cold-rolled 22-gauge ASTM A606-4 weathering steel to manufacture the corrugated panels, and Mike Mooney Construction installed the panels.
Beyond the exterior siding, weathering steel was also used to fabricate the front canopy of the building, staircases, and non-slip stair treads. Likewise, weathering steel planter boxes and pipe bollards serve as an aesthetically-appealing security barrier along the front of our building, and weathering steel sign posts serve as directional signage.
These are just a few of the many ways to use weathering steel in architecture and construction. Are you interested in utilizing weathering steel in your next project? Contact one of our experienced sales representatives to learn more.
