What is ASTM A606-4 Weathering Steel
ASTM A606-4 is a high strength, low alloy steel specification with improved atmospheric corrosion properties. ASTM A606-4 contains additional alloying elements and provides enhanced corrosion resistance. When it is properly designed and exposed to the atmosphere, A606-4 weathering steel can be used unpainted for many applications, including roof and wall panels, corrugated panels, building facades, planter boxes, landscape edging, air ducts, guard rails, and more.
Like other weathering steels, A606-4 forms a patina layer when it is exposed to weather. The patina protects the steel from corroding while providing an aesthetically pleasing color and texture for many architectural elements.
